[dc]F[/dc]or some reason, I agreed to do five minutes of stand up comedy at this Sunday’s Church of Comedy event¹ at the Sir Pizza in Old Town. Well, I can’t lie. I know the reason. My pal Melik asked me. On St. Patrick’s Day. Fill in the blanks.

Yes, there is a little known bit of Irish folk-lore that no Irishman (me) can refuse a request on St. Patrick’s Day to embarrass himself in public. Think of it like the “No Sicilian can refuse any request on his daughter’s Wedding Day” bit in The Godfather, but with more jokes. ²

Five minutes. Five super-long minutes. I’m hard at work though, typing up jokes and notes.

Comedy gold.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG

The fun begins at 6PM, but Melik suggests getting there early to snag a table/seat. It won’t just be me (Thank Batman), but plenty of other folks doing bits. I can’t say when I’ll be on either, but it suppose finish around 8PM.

And–it is FREE. Come on by, have a slice and a pint, and get a laugh or two. (Laughs not guaranteed during my set)

¹ Despite the name, there is nothing religious about this event. Unless I start making Cain and Abel jokes. ” Y’know what they said about Cain, he was hardly ABEL.” D:

² I’m Sicilian too, so Heaven help me if a daughter of mine gets married on St. Patrick’s Day.
