[dc]T[/dc]oday on the Friday Six: Ben Affleck is the next Batman, Batman money clip, watching Carey Grant movies with Stephanie, A Sound of Thunder, a new black t-shirt (with coffee!), and our cat doesn’t get my Pokémon jokes.

And seven is RIGHT OUT

[ ] I wasn’t going to worry about a Friday Six this week (final wedding preparations are GO), but then news broke about Ben Affleck playing Batman in the upcoming Superman vs. Batman film.

So, since geek duty calls for such an announcement, here are my thoughts on Ben Affleck playing The Batman: I’ll give Affleck the benefit of the doubt. He certainly wasn’t my first choice, but hey, why not? There is one issue with Affleck as Batman however. Affleck brings all the Daredevil baggage with him, which will haunt this film until we at least see the first footage.

As far as my pick, I was pulling for Josh Brolin. I based this choice on the earlier news I read about Superman vs. Batman (or whatever it ends up being titled), where the film would feature an older Batman, who had been in the game for several years.

If I recall correctly, this Man of Steel sequel is not connected to the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy/universe, so really all bets (bats?) are off in terms of Batman’s ‘story.’

[ ] Geek Thing of the Week: This Batman Money Clip! How topical.

Does it come in…oh. Image via ThinkGeek.

I have wanted one of these for a long time now, since they first appeared when The Dark Knight hit the theaters. Seems like a million girlfriends ago.

[ ] Speaking of significant others, I made Stephanie watch the Carey Grant film Father Goose with me over the weekend. I love Father Goose. We were on a Carey Grant kick last weekend, having watched Charade the evening before. Both made for great pre-wedding viewing. Ah, LOVE.

[ ] Stephanie had her revenge turn though, and made me watch A Sound of Thunder with her the other night (the 2005 film, not the Ray Bradbury Theater episode). Stephanie, inspired by…uh…I don’t remember actually, dragged me out to Video To Go in search of a copy to rent. Remember the Simpsons Halloween episode where Homer goes back in time, steps on/kills things and changes the future? Same idea as A Sound of Thunder (both based on a Ray Bradbury short story. Well, at least the film is)

A Sound of Thunder isn’t totally unwatchable. Unless you don’t like poorly animated CGI dinosaurs and baboon-raptor-bat things. Yes.

[ ] In one of my final acts as a geeky, single man, I bought one more black geeky t-shirt: this Robot Juice coffee shirt, in all its pixelated goodness by Mr. rstevens of Diesel Sweeties.

Now, I finally have the proper t-shirt for our wedding dress rehearsal.

[ ] I picked up Nigel the cat yesterday and said, “Nigel used Kitty Hug! It was Super Effective!” He was not amused. No respect.
