[dc]I[/dc] don’t pretend to understand all of Life’s mysteries. If anything, mystery makes life more exciting—just look at Murder, She Wrote (if you can find it on TV), if there wasn’t any mystery, the show would probably be Coupons, She Clipped. Boring, and then I have nothing to watch while I make a jug of sweet vermouth disappear.

One of Life’s mysteries I enjoy the most, after how aglets came to be, is why cats love sleeping in boxes. I probably get the attraction: we all like sleeping in cramped, small spaces. Well, at least I do, and my coffin supplier approves.

Nigel and the Box Lid

Upon adopting our first cat Nigel, I saw this cat-box-mystery first hand. Yes, I had heard the rumors, watched the GIFs, and read the memes, but never really spotted a cat sleeping in a random box in ‘the wild.’

Have box, will fit. Photo by me.

Darling.

 Enter Rags

What I did not expect, upon adopting Rags this November, was to witness this act again, with a different cat.

Good grief. Photo by Steph.

I can’t handle this. There is too much cute going on here. Yet, Stephanie and I have yet to see the two cats sleeping in boxes at the same time. There’s probably some weird kitty reason for this, but it is probably for the best.

Because, I cannot imagine what would happen if I came home and saw THIS. My brain would probably explode from all the cute. I can’t even look at this photo for more than 13 seconds, or I get a nose bleed.

Adventures in color mixing.

At least we didn’t bother buying any cat beds.
