Yes, another NHL Lockout is upon us, and I am not amused.
I went back and forth about how to do this strip, but I got inspired to try and do some kind of Sin City look. Obviously, such a technique is way beyond my skills, but it was fun to try. I like experimenting here, because I can (same goes for the panel layout). Originally, you didn’t see any part of ‘me’ in the black half of the circle, just the eye, but then I decided to try for the weird negative look. Sadly, I had to do all of that in Photoshop with my WACOM, because I had inked over my original lines. It took a lot of trial and error, and right half of the circle panel has been painted over more than a state university bathroom wall.
I will have more NHL Lockout related posts here soon, including a humor post this week. I have a slightly more serious article running on The Idler this Wednesday too.
