Friday Six: Locked Out, More Funky, NHL Pokémon Logos, Chain Mail Dice Bag, Wedding Stuff, Cyborg Anthology
[dc]T[/dc]oday on the Friday Six: I’m an idiot, more Funky Winkerbean, chain mail dice bag, cyborg anthology, NHL Pokémon logos, wedding stuff.
[ ] Great Moments in Webmastery: Clattertron.com crashed the other night—or so I thought. What really happened was, I triggered my security lockout by unsuccessfully trying to login via my phone’s WordPress app (I changed the password). Oops!
The upside is, I’m happy to know my security plugin actually works.
[ ] Shortpacked! with a great Funky Winkerbean referencing strip. See also: last week’s post on my new-found love for FunkyWatch. I told Dad about FunkyWatch while visiting last weekend, sparking him to a) say “Funky Winkerbean is still around?” and b) catch up on the strip’s history via Wikipedia.
Apparently Funky Winkerbean takes place in 2017 now. Thanks for the info, Dad.
[ ] Geek Thing of The Week: This Chain Mail Gaming Dice Bag.
Just what I need for the next time I get called in for jury selection. Plus, if I happen to fall into the ocean (somehow), ain’t no shark gonna eat my dice. The rest of my body, whatever, but keep them teeth offa my d20s.
Speaking of d20s, ThinkGeek has a Critical Hit LED D20 Die. Yes, this d20 lights up when you roll a 20, aka ‘Critical Hit’ for those who don’t speak Dungeons & Dragons.
[ ] NHL team logos redesigned with Pokémon. Shared by a pal on Google Plus (Yes, people USE IT).
I can’t reference ‘the Pokey-mans‘ without showing this classic clip from The Simpsons.

[ ] Neil Clarke (Clarkesworld Magazine) has a call for submissions for a cyborg themed short story anthology (1000 to 8000 words, seven cents per word). Deadline is 9/15/13. I have an idea, but the problem is having The Time, what with our wedding only weeks away. I might give it a shot (the deadline is two weeks after the wedding). Like I said, I have an idea—and an outline.
[ ] Speaking of the wedding, Stephanie wasn’t too amused by my tweet the other day:
When’s the next bus to Cloud City? Can I be frozen in carbonite until the day of my wedding?

Too much to do! The stress is building and building, creating a Voltron of nerves, anxiety, crankiness, confusion, and sleepless nights. But hey, it’s just a party, RIGHT? ::goes on a ten minute rant about table skirts::
