Friday Six: MST3K 25, Get Lucky in Mario Paint, Church of Comedy, LEGO Mechs, Cat Mayor Injured, R. Stevens Interview
[dc]T[/dc]oday on the Friday Six: More stand up comedy, MST3K 25th anniversary collection, LEGO mechs, R. Stevens interview, cat mayor injured, and Get Lucky recreated in Mario Paint.
[ ] I’m performing ten minutes of stand up comedy at next month’s Church of Comedy event at The Avenue here in Lansing. Don’t let the name fool you, this ain’t a religious show in the least. Sunday, Oct. 6th, 6PM, Free. I got a promotion, I was only allowed five minutes last time (good grief, that was six months ago?!)
[ ] Geek Thing of The Week: This Mystery Science Theater 3000: 25th Anniversary Edition collection.
This MST3K set comes out in November, but is available for pre-order now. It has the following episodes (never released on home video): Moon Zero Two, The Day the Earth Froze (yes, the “Sampo!” movie), The Leech Woman, and Gorgo. Also included are long out of print classics Mitchell and The Brain That Wouldn’t Die (I have the official VHS release of the latter), which are Joel’s last episode and Mike’s first, respectively.
The set also includes a bunch of extras like behind the scenes specials, and the three-part documentary Return To Eden Prairie: 25 Years Of Mystery Science Theater 3000. WANT.
[ ] It might be time to revisit this whole democracy thing after a dog attacked the cat mayor of an Alaskan town. The mayor, Stubbs, is a 16-year old cat, who won via a write-in 15 years ago.
[ ] Via a Facebook pal, a cover of Daft Punk’s Get Lucky done with Mario Paint Composer.
You had me at Daft Punk.
[ ] I fell down the rabbit hole of photos of LEGO mechs on Pinterest.
[ ] An interview with R. Stevens of Diesel Sweeties, on Comic Book Resources about his new book with Oni Press, I’m a Rocker, I Rock Out. I’ve been a fan of Diesel Sweeties for nearly ten years, so this book will probably make it to my library sooner than later.

Oh my dear goodness, vintage nintendo AND Daft Punk. I think I have to make that my new ring tone.
Yep, I had the exact same thought.
