[dc]A[/dc]s yesterday’s comic post told ya, Stephanie and I returned from our Walt Disney World honeymoon. Yes, we escaped the harsh autumn of Michigan for the harsh sunny and 80 degree weather of central Florida, for ten days.
Ten days is a long time to spend anywhere, even more so at Disney World. I don’t mean that in a bad way either. I shot plenty of photos of the Disney parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios), and our adventures took us beyond The Big Four as well (we also visited Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach).
I plan on several posts breaking down most of our Disney World adventures and to show off some photos (because everyone loves photos of Disney World trashcans, RIGHT? You think I’m joking. I’M NOT).
Since I’m still recovering from the trip, and because everyone loves lists, here’s some quick details about our magical honeymoon at Disney World.
- We stayed at the Saratoga Springs Resort. Which I kept calling, much to Stephanie’s amusement, Sarasota Springs. I got it right by our last day.
- We made use of our MagicBands and the new Disney World mobile phone app. More on this later, but they were very handy.
- New Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom looks great (the Little Mermaid photo is from one of the new attractions).
- We went on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour at the Magic Kingdom. Worth every penny if you are interested in behind the scenes aspects of the park.
- We went on the Wild Africa Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. A three-hour tour!
- As you can see by the above photo of all the Minnie Mouse dolls, I am still enamored by selves full of the same Disney toy. (Here’s an older photo of mine of a wall full of Stitch dolls)
- I got my haircut at the Main Street, U.S.A. Barbershop at the Magic Kingdom. Yes, there are photos.
- We went to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and loved every damn second. Lots of fun, and tasty food.
- I got to ride the new Star Tours. TWICE.
- The water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, make for great people watching.
- I bested Stephanie at miniature golf. She’s still upset.
- We had an official Magical Moment at Epcot (more on this later).
- I never knew so many different Duck Dynasty shirts and merch existed until my latest trip to Disney World. No, Disney wasn’t selling Ducky Dynasty merch–I saw it on many, many park guests.
- We made many trips to Epcot to take part in the annual International Food & Wine Festival. Yummy, yummy food.
- I tried to sketch stuff I saw at the Disney parks when I could, but I wish I sketched more, especially at the start. I might scan my sketches, especially of things I wasn’t allowed to take photos of on tours.
More posts and photos to come. Now, time to sleep. Need to rest up—might have to sell some blood to pay off this honeymoon. Or maybe hair. Or maybe both.
