Pixel Heart Mug; BioShock; Cats; Inking Comics (Friday Six)
[dc]A[/dc]nother week gone, and another week I have foiled the cats’ attempts to murder me. Just barely though. Since Stephanie and I live with two cats now, the chances of me getting hit by a cat attack have doubled. Assuming Nigel and Rags can stay awake for more than two minutes at a time.
[ ] Cat Scratch’d: While playing with Nigel yesterday morning, he stabbed my fingertip with a claw (at least it wasn’t a knife. THIS TIME). One upside: it meant I could finally use my Pac-Man bandages.
Nothing like a cat claw in your finger tip to let one know their pain tolerance ain’t as high as they think. At least it wasn’t one of the fingers I use when drawing. NOTE: the hook thing in the upper left is one of those bag-hook-things, not an earring or an implant. All my weird implants are inside my head.
[ ] Geek Thing of the Week: A Pixel Heart Morphing Mug
When cold, the heart is empty (how fitting!), but when you pour in a hot beverage (coffee, tea, yak milk), the heart fills up! Perfect for a last-minute Valentine’s Day gift. Or an early Christmas gift.
[ ] Behind the Scenes: Here’s a photo of me inking this week’s comic.
I enjoy inking, as it gives me an excuse to buy pens.
[ ] Cat GIFs: I can divide my life into two chapters: before Stephanie found the animated Pusheen stickers on Facebook, and after. Don’t get me wrong: I’m not complaining. I enjoy cute animated cat GIFs as much as the next person.
[ ] Airships, Vigors, and Songbirds: I finished BioShock Infinite the other night. Wow. What a game. Highly, highly recommended. I’m not usually a fan of first person shooters (FPS), but the BioShock series turned me around (I played all three over the past couple months).
Now I need to find a new game for Stephanie to watch me play, so I can hear more of her amusing commentary.
[ ] See Me Next Saturday! The MSU Comics Forum is next Saturday (Feb. 22nd) in East Lansing, MI. Free admission! I’ll be selling mini-comics and sketches 11 AM – 5 PM. Also, the Comics Forum is livestreaming Stan Sakai’s keynote address on Friday night!
[ ] Let’s Wrap (Up):
- Monday’s comic was the first of a new four-part story. (If you buy the mini-comic at the MSU Comics Forum next weekend, you get to see parts three and four early)
- Forget flowers this Valentine’s Day. This year it is all about chocolate skulls and butts.
- I bought my best man a Thor statue and a copy of Cool As Ice.

The amount of pain caused by a tiny cat scratch on the fingertip has always amazed me. I trim my cats’ claws, but my Maine coon is still young and excitable. Ouchies happen.
Also, I love the wobbly look of your comics.
Nigel is usually pretty good at controlling his claws. Usually. Rags on the other hand has a ways to go. And thanks! 😀
