May the Fourth Be With You: Star Wars Day is This Weekend
[dc]M[/dc]ay features a couple of my favorite days: Free Comic Book Day and Star Wars Day. Both happen on the same weekend, resulting in a geektastic perfect storm. Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday, May 3rd and Star Wars Day is Sunday, May 4th.
As in, May the Fourth Be With You. Darling, just darling.
If you need a new lightsaber or R2-D2 for Star Wars Day, ThinkGeek sells plenty of fun Star Wars items.
“I Love Lists.” “I Know.”
In honor of Star Wars Day, I decided to make a handy list of my Star Wars related blog posts and comics. Enjoy, and May the Fourth Be With You!

Star Wars VII Casting
The big news yesterday was the announcement of the cast of the upcoming Star Wars VII film directed by J. J. Abrams. /Film posted a great, detailed breakdown of the casting news for Star Wars VII. Give it a read.
As we all pretty much expected, the original Big Three (Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Mark Hamil) are returning–at least for Star Wars VII. It will be interesting to see where story takes the original cast, and it is probably the best move to rejuvenate the franchise.
I will confess, I geeked out after reading Max von Sydow’s name in the casting news. He is, of course, best known for his roles in Conan: The Barbarian, Flash Gordon, Strange Brew, and some Swedish movie about chess.¹
Here’s hoping Max von Sydow plays a villain–part of me wonders if he just might be the voice of a villain.
Reading of John Boyega’s casting made me happy too. Not familiar with his work? Check him out in the great sci-fi romp, Attack the Block.
Like many other folks, I am a bit disappointed there are not more women in the cast–but maybe we haven’t learned everything yet. Fingers crossed.

¹ Relax film nerds, that was a joke.
You know what else is this weekend? My birthday. I was born on Star Wars Day. Geekery is my birthright.
Also, really? You’re not going to mention The Exorcist?
Boy, am I jealous. Even Vanilla Ice’s birthday (Halloween) can’t compare.
Speaking of The Exorcist, I walked up ‘the steps’ in Washington DC.
