Behind the Scenes: Networking
[dc]A[/dc]s I have said before, even though I make my comics digitally now, they all start out as sketches and/or hand-written scripts.
Last week’s comic, Networking, was no exception. First, my script, with the original idea.
Originally, I planned for No Filter Fox to hold a sign in the last panel. Well, then I decided a sign on a hat made for a better visual gag (see bottom of the next image).
With my script finished, it was time to sketch. Here’s a photo of my thumbnail layout for the final comic.
I keep my thumbnails fast and loose, as you can see here. I just need a guide-line for when I draw the real comic.
Compare the above script and thumbnail to final layout below (clicking the image will take you to the full-sized comic).
I didn’t originally plan to include one of the Reptoids, but it just popped in my head. I needed something in the left side of the last panel to fill it up a bit, and one of the Reptoids fit the bill.
Because when in doubt, draw a hissing lizard man, right?
