[dc]S[/dc]elf referential pop culture comic is self referential.
I really do believe the Internet would implode if there was an image of Benedict Cumberbatch, dressed as Doctor Who (pick one), eating bacon, saying (in between bites of bacon) “Keep calm, and Gangnam Style.”
The inspiration for this comic came from a chat with Steve, aka Barry Goodall, of Lost Highway. I had a status update saying, essentially, that based on my most viewed comics, I need to do more about Game of Thrones, cats, and hockey (or some combination of the three. This was the day Puck Daddy linked to my Cat Shaming comic).
The convo went something like this:
Me: Based on today’s traffic, I need to do more comics about cats and hockey. Now, If I can just work in Game of Thrones too, I’ll be all set.
Steve: Try to work in a Rihanna song while you’re at it. (Note: yes, I know Call Me Maybe is not her song. That’s the joke.)
Me: I should just do a comic about doing a comic with as many hot-topic-pop-culture-things as I can, and watch the Internet explode due to the meta-paradox.
Steve: that comic might collapse in on itself.
So there you go. Inspiration can come from where you least expect it. And as much fun as pop culture comics are to make, comics making fun of pop culture comics are even better (I have no problems making fun of myself).

Daniel: Then, Game of Thrones characters talk about the NHL Lockout with IKEA Monkey–

Daniel: And it ends with Benedict Cumberbatch, dressed as Doctor Who, eating bacon, and saying ‘Keep Calm and Gangnam Style’!
[[The comic strips emits energy and creates some kind of black-hole vortex. There is a Crackle! and a Zap! Daniel is confused]]
Daniel: Huh?
[[The comic begins to collapse on itself, sucking all of reality inside with it, including Daniel. The panel walls rip, tear, and bend in to the vortex. Daniel’s visage is stretched and pulled as he is taken into the vortex]]
Daniel: Help!
[[The comic has destroyed itself and reality with a loud Slurp! The rest of the page, where there should be more panels, are blank, only containing white space]]
