Art
[dc]H[/dc]ere is the comic I made for the Drawing Conclusions gallery exhibit at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts in Ludington, Michigan. The exhibit opened on Feb. 4, so I wanted to wait a bit before running the comic here.
This comic saw me return to making comics the old way with paper, pens, and watercolor paint. You can buy the original art, which I scanned for uploading here, at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts until March 26 (unless it sold already). If it didn’t sell there, I’ll make it available elsewhere (conventions, Etsy, street corners).
While I am happy with how this turned out, the process made me appreciate making comics digitally even more. Preparing the final image for clattertron.com also reminded me why I don’t upload watercolor painted comics regularly: the file sizes are huge. I had to use a bit more JPG compression than I wanted, just to make this comic load easier (these days, all of my comics are compressed PNGs).
I painted this comic with the Winsor & Newton Series 7 #1 brush Stephanie got me for Christmas (and a couple of my usual cheapo brushes). Man, it’s a niiiiiice brush.
If you are up for a road trip, head over to the Ludington Area Center for the Arts to see this comic, and a lot more of my art, in person.
