Be Our (Single) Guest
[dc]T[/dc]he upside to all this wedding planning nonsense is, there are plenty of opportunities for hilarity. At least to me, and I have a twisted sense of humor, so I might not be the best judge. This week’s comic is another inspired by True Events. Stephanie and I noticed several single wedding guests RSVP’ing with a +1, even though we had not planned for such a thing. We aren’t mad by any means (the amount of folks who RSVP’d No makes up the difference), but I couldn’t help but see the humor.
“Ring or don’t bring” is a phrase I first heard a few months ago, and slightly-jokingly tried to include in our RSVP process, but Stephanie’s veto power struck it down (her vote counts as two after all). I can say the ‘expect 20%+ to RSVP no’ rule for wedding invitations proved true, thankfully. It certainly makes things a bit easier for us on the catering and planning side.
Sending out wedding invitations is tricky business. Feelings were hurt, I’m sure, because we couldn’t hit everyone on our guest lists. But, that’s the way it is. Like when picking one’s favorite Ernest film, difficult choices had to be made, as the bulk of the guest list is my immediate family (Dad is one of eight, Mom is one of seven. Add spouses and kids, and you have big guest list right there).
But hey! In some ways, I’m doing folks a favor by not inviting ’em, right? They don’t have to buy us a wedding gift and they don’t have to give up their Labor Day. At least we didn’t get married in the Summer though.
ANYWAY. Blog posts will be light, if they even happen, this week. I have plans for a comic next Monday though. Wish us luck! I’m so excited I could pass out. Which sounds like a good idea, actually. So, so tired.
