[dc]P[/dc]art three of my first multi-part story. There’s a detailed explanation on how this came about in the notes for part one.
Here’s the tl;dr: I created a four page minicomic about No Filter Fox filling in for me at a book signing. This is page three of that minicomic.
The ‘with a page break!’ gag pokes fun at myself–when I did a test run of The Magic of Eyri several years ago, I didn’t have any page breaks at the end of chapters. To my horror, the printed books had chapters starting at random spots on the page. Oops. I learned my lesson (it was fixed before the book went on sale). That’s the one snag with teaching yourself desktop publishing (and self-publishing in general): sometimes you have to learn a lesson the hard way.

[[Daniel stares off panel with a look of horror.]]
Daniel: Oh no!
[[Stephanie turns to face Daniel. He has his hands on his temples, in a panic.]]
Stephanie: What?
Daniel: There’s a writing workshop after the signing!
Daniel: I forgot!
[[Extreme closeup of Stephanie and Daniel, both showing a look of horror.]]
Stephanie and Daniel: Oh no!
[[A crowd of amateur writers has gathered near No Filter Fox, still dressed as Daniel. No Filter Fox stands on a stage. One of the writers, wearing a Small Wonder tshirt and holding a spiral notebook titled, “Game of Bronies” raises a hand. The other writers, with their own notebooks, gather behind him.]]
Writer: How should I end my chapters?
[[No Filter Fox throws up his arms and yells.]]
No Filter Fox: With a page break!
No Filter Fox: Next question!
