Amazon Enigmas: Crazy Food for Crazy Times

[dc]I[/dc] love food. I love it almost as much as building ALF dioramas or alphabetizing my Mystery Science Theater 3000 VHS tapes. Unlike those two though, I have to eat every day.

Although the voices in my head tell me I need to work on my ALF dioramas every day too. But, I don’t always listen, and that means more time for food. Lucky for me, Amazon has all kinds strangely bizarre unique food items for sale.

Banana Bunker

I take banana protection very seriously. There’s nothing worse than reaching into my backpack and finding a squishy banana. Nothing. Well, except maybe a miniature black hole (the space-time thingy, not the Disney film). Bruised, squishy bananas are a thing of the past now with a Banana Bunker. Yes, now you can throw all kinds of books, bricks, and brass knuckles in your backpack without fear of damaging your precious banana. FINALLY.

[dc]T[/dc]hings got a bit goofy between Jim C. Hines and I at the Delta Township District Library’s Local Author Fair on Tuesday evening.

Empty calories, I’m sure. Photo by Steph.

Yes, Jim (author of Libriomancer, The Stepsister Scheme, and the Jig the goblin series) decided to photobomb me while Stephanie snapped away. Bless him. This is probably the only photo of me laughing in existence. Cherish it, people. It belongs in a museum.

Visit Me at the Delta Township District Library Local Author Fair Tonight

by Daniel J. Hogan on April 16, 2013 at 12:01 am

[dc]P[/dc]lease come visit me at the Delta Township District Library this evening at 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM (5130 Davenport Drive
Lansing, MI 48917, right behind the Lansing Mall).

I am one of over 20 twenty authors taking part in the Delta Township District Library’s Local Author Fair.

Yes, you can visit and buy a copy of my novel, The Magic of Eyri, for the special price of only $20 ($5 off the sticker price). It is rare I do signing these days (ordering books through a POD company is expensive), so please swing by. Quantities of The Magic of Eyri are extremely limited (I only have four), so buy one early and often.

But that isn’t all: I’m also selling a brand new, exclusive minicomic, starring No Filter Fox for $1 (or free if you buy The Magic of Eyri). Titled, The Proxy , the minicomic follows No Filter Fox’s misadventures as he fills in for me at a book signing. How meta. This minicomic was my first, and a lot of work–I pretty much did a month’s worth of work in a week. It was worth all the work though, and I’m glad I pushed myself to try.

This is the third year of the Capital City Film Festival, and it just keeps getting better. What makes CCFF stand out is the variety of content offered. Sure, there are features and shorts like at most festivals, but there are also great musical acts. Visit the Capital City Film Festival website for the full schedule.
