Clattertron Coloring Books Now on Etsy

[dc]N[/dc]othing like the impending insanity of Black Friday to remind me, “Oh yeah, I should get my coloring book in my Etsy shop.”

Stephanie colored this page.

So, have at it. My coloring book is for sale now, while they last (there are five available, but I can probably add a few more after those sell out).

There are a few sample pages to view in the Etsy listing, and there are 12 pictures total for your coloring pleasure. Each coloring book you buy through my Etsy shop (or watercolor cartoon) comes with a free mini-comic and sticker (while they last, and my choice based on what I have available).

Please visit my Etsy shop now!

Behind the scenes trivia: Stephanie actually used Prismacolor colored pencils to color the page above, not crayons as my photo shows.

Review: Pentel Fude Extra Fine Tip Brush Pen

[dc]E[/dc]ach brush pen is different. Some are great for sketching, others are better for fine details (JetPens offers this handy brush pen guide). Last time, I reviewed the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen, which many cartoonists love (including myself).

Today, I’m reviewing another Pentel Brush Pen, the Fude Extra Fine Tip Brush Pen. (I learned about both pens via the Inktober website)

Pentel Fude Extra Fine Tip Brush: Out of the Box

Like the Pocket Brush Pen, the Fude requires you to manually “load” the ink.

The ink cartridge is actually the body of the pen, in the left side of the photo above (you can hear the ink inside if you shake the pen). None of the instructions were in English, but the pictures told me what to do.

With the ink loaded, it was time to have some fun.

Extra Life 2015 Recap

by Daniel J. Hogan on November 10, 2015 at 12:01 am

[dc]I[/dc] spent my weekend playing games for charity, and boy-oh-boy what a weekend. Extra Life is the charity in question, and it raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. I took donations and played games for “24 hours” in the name of charity (specifically the Sparrow Children’s Center here in Lansing).

For more information about Extra Life, here’s my original blog post about the charity gaming marathon.

Since I reached my goal of $200, I played games wearing my Ghostbusters jumpsuit.

Playin’ games for charity makes me feel good!

You might think such a thing would be easy, but you try going to the bathroom in a flight suit and tell me how much fun you have.

ANYWAY

Extra Life says you don’t have to play games for 24 hours straight, but I managed 14 hours straight (12PM to 2AM) at the Gravity Works Design + Development offices in Old Town.

Newsletter Archive #7 – Content Theft

by Daniel J. Hogan on November 6, 2015 at 12:01 am

[dc]I[/dc] send out a new email newsletter every week through MailChimp (sign up here), and decided to back up my old newsletters here. This is Clattertron Newsletter #7 – Content Theft from August 23, 2015.

I read an article on the Daily Cartoonist about a Twitter account re-purposing the political cartoons of Graeme MacKay and others. The account took MacKay’s cartoons, erased his name and information, and replaced the text with their own (aimed at forwarding their own agenda, which was different than the original cartoon’s).

This sort of thing infuriates me to no end. As does sites who only exist to make ad revenue off of posting content stolen from other websites (ex: reposting a comic with the artist’s name/url edited out, or not giving any kind of credit/link).
