I migrated over to ComicEasel from ComicPress (probably not the best idea the day after getting married), so things might look a bit weird for a day or so while I do some fine tuning (I should probably spend time with my wife, right?)
[dc]T[/dc]oday on the Friday Six: Wedding updates (Sunday! Sunday Sunday!), Social Media and blogging tips from The Bloggess, Zen Pencils’ Bill Waterson and Ira Glass quotes comics, and a Something Blue TARDIS shirt.
[ ] Stephanie and I are gettin’ hitched on Sunday, which means my time for bloggin’ and comicin’ is pretty limited. I had plans for a comic on Monday, but we’ll see if I’ll get it finished in time (like with any big event, things just keep popping up).
[ ] I finished our wedding programs! I couldn’t tell you how many hours I spent sketching, inking, and laying out our programs, but they turned out great. Like with the wedding invitations and Save the Dates I drew, if I charged myself my hourly rate, I couldn’t afford it. I’ll have photos up post-wedding (along with the wedding invitations and Save the Dates).
[ ] Geek Thing of the Week! This Doctor Who Something Blue V-Neck Babydoll!
It features a TARDIS and bears the words, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”
How appropriate for a wedding related post, right? I’ll say this: I will be wearing a bow tie for the wedding. BECAUSE IT IS WHAT THE BRIDE WANTS AND HEAVEN HELP YOU IF…ahem, I mean, because bow ties are cool and Stephanie’s favorite Doctor is Matt Smith. Yes.
[dc]M[/dc]onday night featured a Joe Dante Twitter love-fest, and I joined in—because Joe Dante directed some of my favorite films, mainly Gremlins and The ‘Burbs. I don’t always expect folks to read my tweets, but it doesn’t stop me from joining a conversation. Much to my surprise, I saw this in my inbox a short while later.
Being kid of the ’80s, I grew up watching Joe Dante’s films on cable and network TV. Gremlins, Explorers, Innerspace, and The ‘Burbs were almost always on some channel on any given weekend.

[dc]T[/dc]oday on the Friday Six: Ben Affleck is the next Batman, Batman money clip, watching Carey Grant movies with Stephanie, A Sound of Thunder, a new black t-shirt (with coffee!), and our cat doesn’t get my Pokémon jokes.
[ ] I wasn’t going to worry about a Friday Six this week (final wedding preparations are GO), but then news broke about Ben Affleck playing Batman in the upcoming Superman vs. Batman film.
So, since geek duty calls for such an announcement, here are my thoughts on Ben Affleck playing The Batman: I’ll give Affleck the benefit of the doubt. He certainly wasn’t my first choice, but hey, why not? There is one issue with Affleck as Batman however. Affleck brings all the Daredevil baggage with him, which will haunt this film until we at least see the first footage.
As far as my pick, I was pulling for Josh Brolin. I based this choice on the earlier news I read about Superman vs. Batman (or whatever it ends up being titled), where the film would feature an older Batman, who had been in the game for several years.
If I recall correctly, this Man of Steel sequel is not connected to the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy/universe, so really all bets (bats?) are off in terms of Batman’s ‘story.’
[ ] Geek Thing of the Week: This Batman Money Clip! How topical.
I have wanted one of these for a long time now, since they first appeared when The Dark Knight hit the theaters. Seems like a million girlfriends ago.
