I’m exhibiting at a new event this weekend in Lansing: the inaugural Get Geek’d Entertainment Expo! This is the first year for this show, and my first time exhibiting inside the Lansing Center. I’m always happy to do local shows, because I don’t have to worry about a lot of travel or finding a hotel.
What is the Get Geek’d Entertainment Expo?
The event bills itself as “Lansing’s newest and best pop culture convention.” So, basically a comic con, but with different branding. I like the “pop culture convention” moniker because honestly that’s what most “comic cons” are these days. It’s more about pop culture and not really focused on comics. Which is fine! There are plenty of great comic focused shows, and there’s nothing wrong with pop culture shows.
When and Where is the Get Geek’d Entertainment Expo?
The fun starts this Saturday, July 28 and continues on Sunday July 29. Doors open at 10 AM on both days. The fun stops at 5 PM on Saturday and 4 PM on Sunday. You can get tickets through Etix.
The show itself is inside Hall C at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing, MI (333 E Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48933). Here’s a map!
Where to Find Me
According to the floor map, I should be near the front (unless I’m reading the map backwards). I’m at booth A3, right next to artist pal Steve Jencks in A2 (Steve designed the Foxes & Boxes logo for me).
Just look for my big banner covered in cats.
What Am I Selling at the Get Geek’d Entertainment Expo
Plenty of things!
- Cartoon prints (8×10 and 11×14)
- 2018 The 100 Day Project original watercolor cartoons
- Monster Portraits original watercolors
- Commissions and Mash Up cartoons
- Foxes & Boxes mini-comics
- Buttons
- Stickers
You never know how a first year show will go, but I’m expecting a good turnout. Being right downtown in the Lansing Center should help bring people in for the event.
Speaking of events, I have four next month!
- Friday, August 3 – Featured Artist Friday
- Friday, August 10 – Art’s Night Out
- Saturday, August 18 – Artfeast
- Saturday, August 25 – MeggaXP IV
Thankfully, each one is a single day event, so it shouldn’t be too exhausting. Ha!
